Advanced Pentatonic Lesson 41
This is a bitchin’ riff. It’s slappy,
and it’s happy.
It’s fairly easy. It uses a few common double-stops in the E and A Position
areas, and open strings to give it it’s sound.

Advanced Pentatonic Lesson 42
This is a swampy double-stop vamp. Played fast it sound
like fiery country lick. Played at a moderate tempo gives a kind John Fogerty
sound.
I play this lick without a pick. I use my 2nd and 3rd
fingers for the higher notes and kind of pull the strings upward when I pluck
them. Then I use my thumb for the low E string.
To get a handle on this, start playing it by omitting the low open E string.
Just concentrate on the higher strings. Once you have that down, add in the low
E string. Just play it the low open E string as it feels comfortable for you.
That’s my best advice.
The audio is played fast, then slow, then it repeats just the turn around lick a
few times really slow.

Advanced Pentatonic Lesson 43
This is kind of based on some Eric Johnson or Steve Vai
type of Pentatonic moves.
It’s a simple E Minor Pentatonic scale but we’re
looking at the scale horizontally as opposed to vertically as many players are
taught.

Advanced Pentaonic Lesson 44
This is a bad ass riff.
Tailored after SRV, it also shows how similar his style was to a lot of John
Fogerty. There a ton of pullin’, hammerin’, bendin’, and stylin’ in this
one. Try and make it just roll off your fingers. Thinking it terms of sloppy
technique will make the sound better as opposed to precise playing, just slap
those strings with your pick.
Also, try playing this with slides instead of bends. You’ll be tearin’ it
up!

Advanced Pentatonic Lesson 45
This is a funky stoner rock type riff.
You’ll see that it moves Dominant 7 chords around until it lands into
double-stops out of the E Super-Imposed scale (Dorian and Mixolydian scales)
where there is no chord (implying a E7 chords though).
To solo over this, play the Super-Imposed scale for each individual chord.
It’ll get you moving through things like never before, if you try and keep up
with the chords.
